In the United States, celebrities such as Jimmy Fallon and Tony Hawk started the use of the application in 2018. Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, also joined the TikTok other celebrities, including Will Smith,  Justin Bieber, many other celebrities have followed.

The TikTok mobile app allows users to often use background music to create short videos that can be edited using speedups, slowdowns, or filters. You can also add your own sound to the background music. To create a music video in the app, users can select background music from different music genres, edit it with filters, adjust the speed to record a 15 second video, then upload it to TikTok and more. The TikTok For You page  is a user-recommended video feed  based on your activity in the app. Content is generated by TikTok's artificial intelligence (AI), depending on what the  user likes, interacts with, or searches for. Users can also add videos on their page to their favorites or select "not interested". TikTok combines the user's enjoyed content to provide videos that they would also enjoy. Users and their content can only be featured on the "for you" page if they are 16 or over as per TikTok policy. Users under 16 will not show up under the "for you" page, the sounds page, or under any hashtags.

Now that you are well versed with the history of TikTok, we can now go on to finally start talking about the subject of the article – the best times to post on the TikTok platform.

One good indicator of the best times to post is to compare the time with the number of active users at that given moment. Based on this, Kasu.io carried out meticulous research and here's what we found.

Generally speaking, the best time to post on TikTok are:

  • Monday – 6am, 10am, 10pm
  • Tuesday – 2am, 4am, 9am
  • Wednesday – 7am, 8am, 11pm
  • Thursday – 9am, 12pm, 7pm
  • Friday – 5am, 1pm, 3pm
  • Saturday – 11am, 7pm, 8pm

Even beyond this, there are a number of other factors that go into deciding the virality or the popularity of your post. Factors like that include the number of Hashtags used and whatnot.

One good rule of thumb is to understand the geographical location of your audience. You may be based in the United States, but if the majority of the viewers and the readers of your content are based in, say, Asia – then it becomes paramount for you to customize your posting schedule accordingly.
